Advent Season at First Baptist Church
‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good word and promise which I have made regarding the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth…” Jeremiah 33:14-15a
During the month of December this year we celebrate Advent– a word which means “arrival or coming.”. Even as the Prophet of old foresaw the coming of the Messiah, the Advent Season is the time for the church of Jesus Christ to celebrate his arrival by way of incarnation – God became human to walk with us. We look forward to celebrating together as a church family through these opportunities:
Advent Worship – 9:30 AM Every Sunday
From the Hanging of the GreenService (Dec. 2), to the Week of Prayer for International Missions (Dec. 9), to the Sanctuary Choir musical, Child of Peace(Dec. 16), to the Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service(Dec. 24), we will worship with joy the coming of our Lord Jesus concluding the month at FBC with Student Day at Christmas(Dec. 30).
Advent Fellowship and Ministry
We had a great week partnering with our brothers and sisters from Central United Methodist Church here on our campus through Shipwrecked VBS as children learned that “Jesus Rescues” us when life tries to shipwreck us.
With our sister churches of the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association we enjoyed a festival at Shelby City Park with games, food, bouncy houses, trunk or treat and a good news message about the Greatest Treat there ever has been! Click below for video highlights of the day.
We had such a great summer of MegaMondays for grade school children and Wacky Wednesdays for preschoolers
We had a fun time being together on October 22, 2017 out at the corn maze! We thank God for our church family.
We were blessed to be asked to provide this TorT for our partner school and especially blessed by those making the 13 vehicles ready for the evening on October 26, 2017!
Our Community Garden Plot for 2017 was planted on April 22. As the garden grows throughout the summer, folks from the neighborhood are invited to harvest the vegetables for use at their homes!
Our HeartSong Children’s Choir sang the musical version of the Tale of the Three Trees on May 7, 2017…..”We all have dreams we dream in our lives. We pray that our dreams will lead us to Jesus and his desire for our lives.”
Our youth led in worship on April 30 through song, testimony, skits, anthems and sharing God’s word as they underlined the them “Unashamed.” They were a blessing to us as they taught in Sunday School as well!
