Our Sticks

Day 13– September 3, 2018

By Edith Hoffman

Exodus 3 & 4 give us the account of God’s call on Moses to do a very challenging talk for which he didn’t feel capable.  He gave God all the reasons why he couldn’t do what God was asking of him.

God said, What is in your hand?

Moses could have answered “just a wooden stick” even though the stick had become much more.  It was something he could lean on for support.  But what good could a simple wooden stick do in Pharaoh’s palace?

What is in our hands as church members?

Just as God did with Moses when He used that stick to part the Red Sea, He can also do with and through us.

He can use our ‘wooden sticks’ to accomplish His purposes for this congregation if we will give them to Him.  We must now trust Him to lead us.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.    Exodus 14:21

Lord, hear our prayer for Your will to be done.  And help us to prepare for our Equipping and Commissioning weekend, Sept 21-23 by allowing You to use whats in our hands.
