With the launch of this new website, our church takes another step to “lean into the future” the Lord is showing us. We are thankful for our Cleveland County neighbors and we are glad that this website will provide a digital presence in our community pointing folks to Jesus. We believe we live in a world that is in great need! We further believe that the greatest need of the world is met as individuals, systems and societies surrender to God’s definitive self-revelation, Jesus! It is our charge and our hope to “know Jesus and then make him known” around Shelby, throughout Cleveland County, and out into the world!
But, that’s a big charge! How do we expect to do it?
One of our long-time members, who passed away several years ago now, used to say that his favorite hymn was “Ole Leaner.” What Jack meant by that was the hymn, “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.” In Deuteronomy 33:27, we read, The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Well, we will be able to “lean into our future” as we recognize the strength of the Lord beneath all that happens to us. Whether we are facing personal trials and temptations or, as a church, we are facing challenges of varied kinds, we will thrive in the journey if we will all “go lean on Jesus.”
