Years ago when Janet and I were in college, we were worshiping at Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, Tennessee.  We were thankful for the congregation and our Sunday School class and we were interested to serve in some way.  This was the first time either of us had been active in a church other than the one in which we grew up.  There, in Bristol, we knew everybody and what the needs were and how we could be part of the ministries.  But, in this new church experience, we just were not sure where to begin to serve!

One of the ministers was talking with us one Sunday and simply asked, “Hey, would you all be willing to pick up the pizza that we will order for a youth event on Friday and deliver it to the youth room for the fellowship time?”  We said, “sure.”  And suddenly we learned a major lesson in service in the life of the church, viz. It’s easy to serve when you know what to do!!

Our FBC Nominating Committee has a plan to help you “know what to do!”  Next Wednesday, May 23, from 5:00 -7:00 PM, they are hosting a Ministry Fair in the Gym complete with fair food and fellowship.  It’s a great place where you can see the kinds of service opportunities that are available to you from service on committees and teams to ministry areas in various age groups and beyond.

Ministry Fair? Wait, what can I do?

“There is nothing small in the service of God.”  (Saint Francis De Sales)

Oh, there’s something for everyone to do in the service of God’s Kingdom work!!
